CHAPTER 6; ( TAKING LECTURE NOTES )

Taking notes is important to increase our understanding and this include that we all have our own understanding have many kinds of way to interpret our understanding. This means that only the owner of the note will understand his or her notes fully. By doing this, it can provide us with too many benefits that is bring goods for ourselves and make our studies became much easier. That is why taking notes is good for students although its compulsory for teachers or lecturers to give notes beforehand, but this will prove our effort in improving ourselves.

WHY ARE WE TAKING NOTES ?

When we are taking notes, it is better to include kinesthetics movement and use senses so that we can UPLOAD it in our short-term memory. It is also to train ourselves to be an active listener such as listen while have a movement of hand to write the notes so that you will not lose focus and less sleepy. Other than that, there's many reasons why we need to take notes in class such as :-

1. To provides an accurate information

• The information will be much precise because you listen with focus and hear the original form of interpretation from your lecturer

2. To provides an opportunity in interpret, condense, and organize information

• More details, elaboration and explanation of the topics make us easy to understand
• Points in notes and tables will help us differentiate and understand better

3. To provides an opportunity for repetition of the material

• Which means that we can always refer to our notes multiple times while making revision
• This teach us to not only depends on note because some notes are not too clear, and we will have a tough time to understand

        - Have a title

        - Have subtitles or subtopics

        - Have summary or conclusion

PREPARATION BEFORE TAKING NOTES !

To make a perfect and beautiful note that full of the suitable aspects, we also need to prepare ourself beforehand and same as prepare for class such as read the material or notes given before class because it will increase our curiosity and make us have questions so that you can ask the lecturer of which part that you don’t understand.

In order to take an organized notes, students need to become an active listener to obtained the information accurately to avoid any mistake or misinformation that can leads you to more confusing and unclear image about certain topic. This mind map shows that how to be an active listeners :
